Professor Patrick O’Connor AM is the Director of the Centre for Global Food and Resources and Professor in the School of Economics and Public Policy at the University of Adelaide. He is a leader in bringing the tools of economics to the challenges of biodiversity loss, ecosystem service degradation and climate change.

Patrick has pioneered the design of market-based instruments for the conservation of natural resources. His work has helped to explore the application of new markets for environmental goods and services in real world contexts and to understand ecosystem service trade-offs in restoration. Patrick has provided consulting services to government agencies, NGOs and commercial enterprises and undertaken research in Australia, China and Southeast Asia.

Patrick has been a leader in the not-for-profit sector, he is the current President of the Nature Conservation Society of South Australia, member of the Restoration Decade Alliance and immediate past-President of the National Landcare Network.
