Developing a Biodiversity Act for South Australia

We applaud the State government’s commitment to a Biodiversity Act. The Discussion Paper provides a credible high-level overview of the state of play with South Australia’s biodiversity and what needs to happen.
The Biodiversity Council’s submission is a high-level response to the topics set out in the Discussion Paper and makes recommendations in the areas of:
- Culturally Significant Entities
- Offsets
- Contemporary environmental goals and principles
- New government investments in management and recovery
- Clear and mandatory obligations
- Better account for data deficient and poorly represented species
- Landscape-scale conservation and ecological restoration
- A new statutory trust for private land
