Urvee Sarkar

Policy and Youth Engagement Intern - Global Youth Biodiversity Network Australia

Urvee works on youth engagement and participation at the Biodiversity Council, where she leads the establishment of the Australian chapter of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN Australia) - Australia's first-ever national network representing young people in nature policy.

Urvee has keen interests across a wide range of areas, including nature and environmental policy, ecology, child and youth rights, and intersectionality, and engages in these spaces across local, national and international levels.

Urvee is currently completing a Bachelor of Advanced Science (Hons.) at the University of New South Wales, majoring in Ecology and Conservation and minoring in Policy, Power and Government.

GYBN Australia

GYBN Australia consolidates young Australian voices and youth-led organisations connected to nature in order to represent their collective voices in nature policy domestically and internationally - building intergenerational equity into nature governance as well as the capacity of youth to engage effectively in nature policy processes.
