This lesson suits Year 5-6 students within the Science and Geography curricula.
Students will examine how living things adapt to survive in human environments by investigating the types of plants or animals that co-exist within their community, and the things that can impact their survival.
Learning intentions:
Students will:
- identify organisations working in their local area to promote the co-existence of people and wildlife
- discover the biodiversity requirements for their particular area.
Success criteria:
Students can:
- explain the objectives of a local organisation, why this is important for biodiversity in their area, and how people can support this organisation.
This lesson was created in collaboration with Cool.org as part of the Biodiversity in Action education resources, which are hosted on their website.
